Nanoscale Physics and Technology

Inaugural meeting and AGM of the Nanoscale Physics and Technology Group

 of the Institute of Physics

23rd May 2003, 1 Day Meeting
Application Deadline : 2nd May 2003

Scope
The Nanoscale Physics and Technology Group of the Institute of Physics is holding an inaugural one day meeting and AGM at the University of Reading on the 23rd May 2003.

The meeting will bring together invited speakers from both academia and industry in the broad area of Nanoscale Physics and its application in technology. Contributed posters are sought to further widen the programme of the meeting and to stimulate discussion in this exciting and rapidly expanding field.

Posters
Poster presentations on all related fields are welcomed from the participants. It will not be necessary to submit an abstract in advance. The poster boards are 90 cm (36 inches) wide and 120 cm (48 inches) high. Posters will be affixed with velcro tabs which will be supplied if necessary. Lunch will be taken in the poster room, which will provide an extended period for discussion of the presented work.

AGM

The Group AGM will be held during the lunch interval.

Practical Arrangements
The meeting will be held in the Nike Lecture Theatre in the New Agriculture Building with registration, posters and lunch being held in room A1L04 directly above the Theatre. We cordially invite all those with an interest in the study or application of Nanoscale Physics and Technology to attend and participate in the meeting. It is hoped that there will be lively discussion. There will be no proceedings.

Directions to the University of Reading can be found here. The New Agriculture building (no. 43 on the map) is on the Early Gate side of campus. Please note there are no through roads across campus for vehicles from Whiteknights to Early Gate, it is however a pleasant walk through the grounds. Further directions for travel to the University by private and public transport are also available.

The registration fee is £20 for students, £30 for IOP members and £40 for others, and includes lunch and refreshments.

Registrations should be made via email to Please Register Me and should include your IOP membership number (if appropriate), whether you wish to present a poster and contact details. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
